Job Post: Insurance Supplement Specialist

Headline / hook

Insurance Supplement Specialist for a Roofing Company That Does It Right

1. Who is the candidate

You came up writing supplements for a high-volume storm operation, probably mid-size restoration, maybe 50 to 100 employees. You were good at it, maybe the best on the team. But the place was running shady and you knew it. Management pushed you to pad line items, leadership disappeared after hail season, nobody cared about the homeowner once the check cleared. The work itself you loved. The environment wore you down. If that's not your exact path but you recognize the pattern, keep reading.

2. What they want

You want stability with room to matter. You're done with companies that blow up after hail season and start over somewhere new every spring. You want a place you can actually stay, build a reputation in one city, go home at a reasonable hour. You want to matter to someone who actually runs the company, not just be a number on a recovery spreadsheet. You want the bonus to be real and tied to your actual output, not a pool divided by whoever showed up. And you want less drama, a place where the owner isn't cutting corners and hoping nobody notices.

3. What they do NOT want

You don't want to walk into a place that says it's honest and then hands you a file where someone already padded the numbers and expects you to defend it. You don't want an owner who's never around when you need them. You've probably been burned by a bonus structure that looked good on paper and then got adjusted at year end. And you don't want to be the only one who actually cares, doing the work while management shrugs when something goes sideways.

4. What they are willing to put up with

Depreciation checks move on the carrier's schedule, not ours, so some homeowners are going to call frustrated and you have to stay calm and keep the file moving even when there's nothing new to report. The owner is sharp early and harder to reach by afternoon, so you work independently most of the day and don't wait to be managed. First 90 days you report to Ray, who has opinions and is going to be in your files. Volume is real too, about 220 insurance jobs a year, the pace doesn't let up in season and a backed-up file stack is just part of the job.

5. Who we are

We're a local residential roofing and gutter company in San Antonio, operating since 2012. About 310 jobs annually, roughly 70 percent insurance claims. We're the trusted local operator that homeowners call when they're tired of out-of-state storm chasers who disappear after the check clears. We have drone inspections, a 4.7 rating, and a reputation we've spent 13 years building. Small enough that your work actually shows up. You own every file and the owner sees the result.

6. What this role is

You own the complete supplement workflow from inspection photos and initial estimate through carrier approval and depreciation check collection. You write clean supplements in Xactimate, defend them on the phone with adjusters, chase depreciation checks until they release, and keep homeowners confident through the whole process without Ray or Marco having to chase you. You recover the money the business earned without cutting corners or risking a carrier flag. You hit 85 percent supplement approval, $2,100 average recovery per job, and zero flags. You keep Marco's estimating team confident that their work is backed up, not undermined.

7. Few but critical musts

Two years of daily Xactimate use writing actual line-item estimates. Real adjuster negotiation experience, phone calls with carriers defending line items. Clean history, no padding, no carrier flags.

8. How to apply

If this sounds like you, apply and answer three questions: Why did you apply for this position? What track record and experience do you have that will make you successful in this role? What skillset and other intangibles do you have that will make you successful with this company?

Compensation & benefits

Base salary $58,000 to $68,000 depending on experience, plus $75 per approved supplement. Full-time, San Antonio office.
